Industrial chemicals are ubiquitously found in goods we use on a daily basis. While their utility enables many of our modern-day conveniences, some of these recalcitrant molecules have been directly linked to serious health concerns in humans and animals. One such class of chemicals includes per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly found in consumer products and used extensively in many industrial manufacturing processes. This presentation will review an electrochemical oxidation destruction process for industrial wastewater that has been developed and commercialized by Axine Water Technologies. Detail will be provided on the optimization of electrode materials to achieve a high degree of PFAS mineralization under ambient conditions across a broad range of long chain, short chain, and ultra-short chain molecules.
