Sr Director, Smart Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence Micron, Singapore
The production of semiconductors requires a significant amount of energy and resources. Only by implementing sustainable practices and investing in renewable energy sources, can industry reduce its environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Micron has made significant progress in the past 2 years against our environmental sustainability commitments. It is a circular ecosystem – our products enable more sophisticated AI & ML technology that is used to optimize consumption, manufacturing and R&D. Micron’s smart manufacturing solutions have been instrumental in driving sustainability commitment across our entire value chain. Starting from the beginning – technology development, we push innovation with our deep technology knowledge and AI capability, to continuously optimize and design manufacturing processes that are increasingly sustainable. During the operation phase, building green and hyper connected facilities is one of Micron’s primary objectives, to maximize productivity and minimize our environmental footprint. Advanced sensoring and digital solutions are also leveraged to optimize material consumption. Moreover, Micron is committed to influence our indirect environmental impact – to ensure our efforts are proliferated across the value chain.
To achieve a successful sustainability program, Micron has equipped itself with a green ecosystem – active ventures team that actively identifies and invest in I4.0 and Green Tech startups, data sharing collaboration with key equipment suppliers; strong technology backbone, e.g., IIoT stack with chamber level data acquisition capability, etc.; and a dedicated global sustainability team with support across the organization.
