    Kannan Perumal is the Chief Information Security Officer at Applied Materials. Applied Materials is the leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world.
    At Applied, Perumal is responsible for the overall strategy and implementation of Applied’s cyber security controls to help protect Applied’s IP, that of our customers and third-parties, as well as employees’ personal information. He is also responsible for representing Applied Materials with industry groups, governmental bodies and law enforcement relevant to cyber security.

    Perumal is a 30-year IT professional, 20-year veteran of the information security & risk management field and is recognized as an expert in the discipline. He became a security consultant and for several years helped build digital defenses for various companies. Perumal helped build information security program to manage external and internal threats, and supplier environments as well as obtain ISO 27001 certification for Applied Materials.
