Udara Somarathna is a PhD candidate at the Center of Advanced Microelectronics Manufacturing (CAMM) in the Binghamton University. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and Master’s degree in Industrial Mathematics from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He is lean six sigma black belt certified and has also received an academic excellence award in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE). His current research, under the supervision of SUNY distinguished Professor Mark D Poliks, involves product & process development, reliability analysis, systems modeling, and sustainable development of flexible and printed electronics. He is keen on integrating Model-Based Systems Engineering and data-driven process optimization methodologies to develop printed electronics digital twins to enable sustainable development.
