Dr. Mohammad Farahani is an entrepreneurial scientist who received his Ph.D. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2018 and started his startup "SepPure Technologies" to commercialize his Ph.D. research right after graduation. Since then, he has raised more than $20m in funding and created a team of 50 employees across Canada and Singapore. SepPure's product is a nanofiltration membrane that replaces the conventional heat-base chemical separations, e.g. evaporation, in various industries, providing 90% energy consumption reduction and 90% emissions reduction. Dr. Farahani received the title “Innovators Under 35” in from MIT Technology Review in 2020 and the “Outstanding Young Alumni Award” from NUS. He also received the “Founder of the Year Award” by TechNode Global, “Innovator of the Year” by Singapore Business Review, “Leader of Tomorrow” by Gen.T List, and his Ph.D. research received "The Outstanding Postgraduate Research Thesis Award" from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
