Micron Technology
As a Distinguished Engineer at Micron Technology, Ameen Akel leads a systems pathfinding organization that researches, prototypes, and productizes systems innovations. He and his team ideate and architect novel memory systems and architectures, assess their implications, and drive hardware and software strategies to successfully implement them.
He sets technical direction for multiple efforts within Micron with a focus on hardware/software codesign, including systems implications of emerging and traditional memory architectures and novel memory systems architectures across a wide variety of compute architectures and applications, including AI inference and training systems. Ameen also represents Micron in architecture, systems, and software research engagements, with a primary focus of representing and driving Micron’s technical and strategic interests.
Ameen earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of California, San Diego. He has coauthored more than 13 technical papers. He is a prolific inventor with over 50 patents filed. He has served on numerous academic conference program committees.
