Debra Vogler (BS [1975], MS [1977], Physics, Marquette University) is president of Instant Insight Inc., a media production company she founded in 1998. After earning her degrees in physics, she had a 20-year career in reliability engineering: 10 years in the defense electronics industry (Litton Applied Technology), and 10 years in the semiconductor equipment industry (Varian Thin Film Systems and Watkins Johnson-SEG [Quality Systems Director]). While at Varian and WJ-SEG, she was active in SEMI International Standards, serving as Technical Architect of the Metrics Committee and Co-chair of the E10 Subcommittee. After her engineering career, she became a journalist, spending a total of 10.5 years as a Senior Technical Editor with PennWell publications covering semiconductor manufacturing and packaging, photovoltaics, and nanotechnology from 2001-2011. Since July 2012, she has served as the Sr. Technical Editor of Chip Scale Review. An experienced interviewer, Ms. Vogler has produced and hosted several hundred video and audio interviews during her journalism career. She also has been a strategy consultant to SEMI since 2012, during which time she has organized/facilitated/moderated the advanced lithography and scaling sessions at SEMICON West conferences. She is also the executive producer of the pilot episode of the children’s science show, Curious Duck ®.
