A veteran of the self-driving and robotics industry, Cameron Gieda has spent a 20+ year career discovering new markets for novel technologies. Cameron's journey with autonomous cars started with a Business Development position at Velodyne LiDAR when Velodyne was the only company manufacturing multi-channel rotating LiDAR sensors. At the time, Velodyne was promoting LiDAR as the missing link which would enable safer operations and quicker adoption of autonomous cars and commercial vehicles. After Velodyne, Cameron transitioned to a Velodyne distributor/integrator called AutonomouStuff, who not only sold LIDAR but also research vehicles and all the technologies needed to run an autonomous vehicle. While working for AutonomouStuff, Cameron supplied research platforms to most of the companies working to develop L4 ADAS (with a distinct focus in Silicon Valley). After AutonomouStuff was acquired by Hexagon Inc, Cameron joined a software company called Spartan Radar as the Vice President of Business Development, working with software-defined radar sensors. Today, continuing the software-defined theme, Cameron recently joined PonyAI, a company founded in Fremont, California, which has quietly become one of the largest robotaxi and autonomous commercial vehicle companies on earth. Cameron's role with PonyAI involves developing partnerships and joint ventures with OEMs and Tier 1s around the use of PonyAI software for L2 and L3 ADAS applications in passenger vehicles.
