Rick VanIttersum joined the SEMI Foundation as Program Manager – SCAN Michigan in September 2022. He strategizes, oversees, and implements the SEMI Foundation’s SEMI Career and Apprenticeship Network (SCAN) program in Michigan. He collaborates closely with a wide range of external stakeholders, overseeing the development of apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs in multiple occupations in the industry.
Before joining SEMI, Rick served as Vocational Training Manager and Apprenticeship Success Coordinator at Kinexus Group/Michigan Works! Berrien-Cass-Van Buren where he managed their registered apprenticeship programs and intermediary services. In partnership with area employers and educational partners, Rick developed multiple apprenticeships programs in non-traditional occupations, including one of Michigan’s first USDOL Registered Apprenticeship Programs for Certified Nursing Assistants. He is a past recipient of Michigan Works! Association’s Shining Star Award; celebrating Michigan Works! frontline staff who, through dedication and outstanding contributions to workforce development, personify the Michigan Works! mission.
Rick is an alumnus of the University of Michigan and recently moved to the Grand Rapids area from Saint Joseph, MI with his wife Sara, their two children Chloe and James, and their dog Brownie.
