Numerous qubit technologies are competing to deliver scalable quantum logic. Each has unique advantages and challenges that are both clear and yet to be discovered. Silicon spin qubits offer high density, good coherency, and can be integrated with advanced semiconductor manufacturing. Adapting the robust base of logic patterning and materials capabilities, we can better manage the magnitude of invention required. That said, there are unique and exceptional needs to realize stable and scalable qubits, such as the quality and design of the Si/SiGe heterostructure, interfaces, and dielectrics where individual charge and local atomic placement can impact qubit behavior. We will touch on progress towards scalable spin qubits and highlight opportunities for industry advances.
