The move in the automotive industry towards autonomous cars with ADAS systems and EVs with full smart glass exteriors is creating a need to ensure safety system sensors are fully operational during winter or harsh weather conditions. CHASM’s development of a transparent heater solution employing its AgeNT™ hybrid film technology, which is compatible with optical, RADAR, and LIDAR systems is the result of an evolution in technology over multiple years, responding to more demanding product requirements which have required deeper technology development and validation of the performance as application challenges were encountered. This presentation will explore the key design aspects, characteristics of available materials and development challenges which go into creating a Chasm transparent heater solution for a wide range of applications. The variety of application requirements and constraints has brought the need for the development of more advance simulation tools which allow us to more effectively design solutions which meet customer needs while lower the lead time and cost by streamlining the iterative design process. This presentation will briefly introduce CHASM’s material set, describe the “design space” for heaters, and present results from an improved simulation tool and validation of results via field testing programs. Finally, a view of technology enhancements underway will be presented
