Geopolitical tensions, national protectionism, digital technology, sustainability, pandemics, wars, and supply chain disruptions all challenge the traditional elongated, take-make-dispose supply chain whereby finished products are centrally manufactured and shipped globally. This holds true for semiconductors and electronics as it does for a whole host of products. Whilst change doesn’t happen overnight, we cannot fail to see that the traditional supply chain is being questioned and, indeed, being acted upon. But what do the new supply chains morph into, and what challenges lay ahead?
